‘Only In Benidorm’ – series now available

For 10 years, in-between 2013 and 2023, I visited the Spanish holiday resort of Benidorm on the Costa Blanca. Known for its cheap package holidays, bargain loving Brits and booze-fuelled antics I began to photograph all that was happening, only in Benidorm.

The Benidorm Years

Since 2007 my Mum and late step-father Colin would spend a couple of the winter months enjoying better weather around the sunny Mediterranean. I would regularly go out and join them for a week or so during these stays.

Eventually, in 2013, they settled on Benidorm, given there was a lot more going on there to keep them occupied than in some of the previous places they had stayed. So I would go out each year, usually for their last week in March.

Unfortunately, due to family illness in 2016 and the Covid travel restrictions in 2021 I was unable to make trips for these years. Also, I did manage a brief flying day visit in September 2019. However, in 2022 (March & October) and in 2023 (February and March) I managed to make 4 trips to make up for the missed years.

Covid in Benidorm

Sadly at the beginning of 2020, just before they were due to fly out, my step-father Colin passed away. However, I still went out for a week with my Mum in March of that year. It was to be eventful, with the Covid pandemic breaking out, a Spanish lockdown happening whilst were there and both eventually getting home with Covid. Certainly not a trip I will forget easily!
