K&J’s Candid Wedding at Rowton Castle

As a Bristol wedding photographer, I photograph weddings across the UK, and beyond, bringing my background in candid street photography to every wedding I shoot. This approach is all about observing rather than directing, capturing genuine moments, real emotions and the atmosphere of the day as it unfolds naturally.

Rowton Castle, set in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, provided a fantastic backdrop for K&Js wedding, but as always, it was the people and the unscripted moments that mattered most. From the nervous anticipation before the ceremony to the laughter, celebrations and chaos that followed, this was a wedding full of authentic moments worth remembering.

Wedding Photography Without the Wedding Photography Clichés

If you’ve made it this far, you’ve probably noticed that these aren’t quite the usual wedding photographs. That’s deliberate.

My approach to wedding photography comes directly from my background as a candid street photographer. I’ve spent years photographing people in the real world, looking for fleeting moments, interesting interactions, humour, emotion and the unexpected. I bring exactly the same way of seeing to weddings. It makes my approach to weddings different and unique.

I don’t want to spend your wedding day constantly directing you, lining people up or asking everyone to smile at the camera. Instead, I want to be there, watching, anticipating and waiting for those moments that happen naturally. The look between two people. A laugh that nobody expected. A guest dancing like nobody is watching. Your friends and family being themselves. Even the occasional tantrums, chaos and the reality that makes your wedding day truly yours.

For me, that is documentary wedding photography at its best: not simply recording what happened, but telling the story of how your wedding actually felt. This gives you wedding photography that is different from everyone else’s more traditional wedding photos. It’s real, not fake. It’s the reality of your wedding day not a fantasy that doesn’t reflect who you really are.

My work as a street photographer has been recognised internationally, with my photographs receiving awards from the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). I’m proud to have been ranked among the Top 3 wedding photographers in Bristol by the WPJA, alongside recognition for individual wedding photographs.

Although I’m based in Bristol and photograph weddings throughout Bristol, North Somerset and the South West, I regularly travel further afield across the UK – and even abroad. My street photography background means that wherever the wedding takes me, I’m looking for the same thing: authentic moments rather than manufactured ones.
