Planning a wedding comes with a lot of moving parts (and even more questions). Photography shouldn’t be one of the things you’re stressed about. To make life easier, I’ve put together answers to the questions I’m most often asked by couples. If there’s something you’re still wondering, just ask…I’m always happy to chat.
Do you take traditional portraits & group shots?
Yes, if you really want some, but they’re not the main focus of my work and we won’t spend much time doing any. My style is all about capturing the day as it unfolds naturally: the laughter, the chaos, the dance-floor madness, and those blink-and-you’ll-miss-them moments. Read More Here.
Do you only shoot in colour?
Yes, I shoot entirely in colour. It’s a big part of my signature street photography aesthetic — raw, real, and true to life. Weddings are full of vibrancy, atmosphere, and emotion, and colour captures that authenticity in a way black & white simply can’t. In many ways, for me personally black & white is an “abstraction” from reality, so as documentary wedding photographer I’m look to document reality and truth. If you’re booking me, it’s for my colour-driven, documentary approach.
How far do you travel?
These days I am based in North Somerset, near Bristol. However, I will photograph weddings all over the UK and beyond (passport at the ready!). For any wedding more than 60 miles from the BS22 postcode travel costs may apply. However, I will always keep these to a minimum and will agree with you prior to booking.
Do you offer half-day coverage?
Yes. Every wedding is unique, so I offer flexible coverage depending on what you need — from a few hours of ceremony and reception through to the full shebang from morning prep to the last song.
How many photos will we receive?
Every wedding is different. So there’s no minimum or maximum. I simply promise you’ll get all the good ones.
When will we get our photos?
I deliver a couple of low-resolution “sneak peaks” within a few days, so you’ve got something to share straight away. I will generally deliver your full resolution edited wedding collection within 2-3 weeks.
How do we get our photos?
The choice is yours. I can share a link to a private, password protected Dropbox folder that you can download within 2 months of your wedding date. Alternatively, I can provide them on a USB stick via Royal Mail.
Do you edit all the photos?
Absolutely. Each image is edited individually in my signature style. I don’t do heavy retouching or airbrushing — my approach is natural, honest, and documentary. There’s definitely no Instagram filters or whatever the latest fad is.
Can we print our photos?
Yes. You share and print your photos as much as you like. The only limitation is if you are looking to use your photos commercially. This will require my consent, so let me know if you are planning to do this.
Who owns the copyright of our photos?
The copyright of the images remain with me as the photographer. The the only time this may impact on you is, as set out above, your are planning to use them commercially. Get in touch if you are in any doubt.
Can we re-edit our photos ourselves?
As the photos represent my signature style, I would request you don’t where sharing online.
Can we have the RAW files?
No. Think of raw files like the film negatives, unfinished, unpolished, and not the final product. Part of what you’re booking me for is not just to take photos but to edit them into my signature street-inspired style. Handing over RAW files would be like giving you a bag of unprocessed film rolls, as well as giving up my copyright. What you’ll receive instead are fully edited, high-resolution images that reflect the authentic, colourful, storytelling look I’m known for.
Do we need to feed you on the day?
Yes, please. Weddings can be long days so to ensure I stay energised and concentrated, it is appreciated if you can provide food and access to drinking water throughout the day. You don’t have to sit me with your guests (I often use this time to backup cards and recharge batteries) or provide the wedding meal, but if you speak with your caterers they will often provide food/snacks for the different wedding vendors.
Do you belong to any professional bodies?
Yes. I am an accredited member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). It means my work has been recognised by an international community of photographers who specialise in a candid, documentary approach. The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) only accepts photographers who focus on authentic, storytelling imagery rather than staged or overly posed shots. Being a member shows my commitment to capturing real moments with honesty, humour, and creativity, and it connects me with like-minded photographers around the world who share the same ethos. See more here.
Have you won any awards?
Yes, I have won awards with the WPJA for my wedding photojournalism. I have also won multiple awards for candid street photography, I’m also widely and internationally exhibited and published. See more here.
Are You Insured?
Yes. I carry both public liability and professional indemnity insurance with Hiscox Business Insurance. That means you, your guests, other vendors, and your venue are all protected in the unlikely event that something were to go wrong. It’s peace of mind for everyone involved. I can provide copies of the insurance if required.
How long have you been photographing weddings?
I shot my first wedding in 2012 and shot many weddings up to 2021. Then, after leaving London and moving to North Somerset, I took a break. This was due mainly to supporting a family illness for a number of years. I am now back to fully shooting weddings from 2025 onwards, with a full relaunch for the 2026 wedding season.
Can we see more of your weddings?
Yes, you can see selected real weddings here. I am still adding previous weddings to this new website, so many more will appear going forward.
What Is Street Photography?
I have been photographing street photography for almost 20 years, for which I have won multiple awards. Street photography is about being alert, spontaneous, and ready to capture the fleeting moments of everyday life, humour, emotion, and the unexpected. That way of seeing and reacting directly shapes how I photograph weddings. I don’t set things up or interfere; I anticipate and respond. It means your photos filled with real, unscripted moments, the kind you couldn’t plan even if you tried. You can read more about what Street Photography is to me here.
What other photography do you shoot?
I have previously shot news and photojournalism images for the former Demotix agency and Alamy Newswire. In 2009 I was invited to be a contributor to Getty Images, providing stock and editorial images. My work with Getty Images has been licensed around the world to many news agencies, blue chip organisations and even at the London 2012 Olympics. See more at Getty Images.
So how long have you been doing photography for?
Arguably since I was a toddler, and my Nan used to let me play around with her Kodak Instamatic…though it was never loaded with film. I guess I started taking it seriously when I got my first SLR camera in my teens. So, most probably almost 40 years now!
Still have questions?
If there’s something I haven’t covered here, just ask. Every wedding is different, and I know you might have specific questions about your plans.
I’ll be happy to chat and make sure you’ve got all the answers you need.
