Participant Observation

Anthropology. A research method in which the researcher takes part in the everyday activities, interactions and social life of the people or community being studied, while simultaneously observing and recording their behaviour, relationships and environment. The method is used to gain an understanding of a culture or social group from within, combining direct experience with systematic observation.
Hi, I’m a candid street photographer, based in North Somerset, UK. I moved here, from London, in the Spring of 2021.
I’ve been drawn to humour, absurdity and WTF!? since 2006. To celebrate my 20th year of street photography, I published my first zine “Greatest Hits Vol.1 (2006-2026)” in March 2026.
My obsession with photography began early, as a young kid, fascinated by my nan Pearl’s many photo albums. I was soon running around with my own small compact camera soon after.
I got my first SLR camera in the late 1980s, having become a huge fan of the Dutch music photographer, Anton Corbijn – particularly his work with band Depeche Mode.
I finally went fully digital with my photography around 2004.
On those rare occasions I’m not out with a camera in hand, I’m a big West Ham United fan, love my music and have now and then done a bit of fiction writing.
