Orange Exhibition – Glasgow Gallery of Photography

Candid street photography of a man wearing orange on Orange Street in central London.

I’m really pleased to say this image will be part of an exhibition, based on the colour orange, at the Glasgow Gallery of Photography (GGOP) this coming August, 2025.

I’m particularly delighted as it’s an image I was rather pleased with, both at the time and now, but hasn’t always got the appreciation I thought it deserved.

The two questions I get about it:

Q: Is it a staged photo? No – like all my photos it is completely candid.

Q: Did you have to wait a long time? Not at all. I rarely, if ever, stake out a scene in the hope something might happen. I had 6 years earlier in 2013 gotten a photo of a girl playing around, with the orange part of the Irish tricolour showing, in this location, but it certainly wasn’t as successful (see below). So I was aware of the street and sign, but on this occasion, in 2019, I saw the guy coming up the street so literally waited a couple of moments for him to get a little closer.

Once the exhibition is showing I will be posting back with more details.
