I’m delighted to say that I have had a number of my photos featured in edition 2 (August 2023) of Lightreadings Magazine on the theme of ‘family’.
My submission of “Day Out” features a number of images focusing on the dreaded family day out and the boredom that can often follow. I am one of 24 international photographers featured, selected from more than 240 photographers who submitted work.
A theme as broad as “Family” offers a variety of approaches. From personal experience and autobiography – which often has a diary feel – to documentary and conceptual photography, as a result of a reflection on what family means today. As we understand it, the term “family” refers to a social unit consisting of people who live together and interact in a domestic environment and who are related to each other by kinship or emotional ties.
We received many interesting approaches on the subject from over 240 photographers. Our final selection was based on the quality of the work, theme relevance and the final format of the online exhibition and digital publication.
